Bactrim d.s tablets

Bactrim DS (double strength) tablets, which contain a combination of sulfamethoxazole and trimethoprim, are commonly used to treat a wide range of bacterial infections. They are effective against urinary tract infections (UTIs), respiratory tract infections such as bronchitis, ear infections (otitis media), gastrointestinal infections like traveler’s diarrhea, and certain types of skin and soft tissue infections. Bactrim DS is also used in the treatment and prevention of Pneumocystis jirovecii pneumonia (PCP), especially in immunocompromised patients, and may be prescribed for other infections caused by susceptible bacteria. It works by inhibiting bacterial growth through interference with folic acid synthesis, helping the body eliminate the infection.
